On paper this was a David v Goliath match-up. St Kents had last years NZ U17 backline, including the keeper, and they were on home turf. But AGS were belligerent in their defense, and were unfortunate not to go ahead when Sam cracked a long range knuckle-ball off the crossbar.
It wasn’t until the hour mark that AGS broke through, when Sam intercepted a SKC pass, linking nicely with Tom Drillien, before racing up the pitch, popping a square ball to Denny, who coolly slotted the ball across the face of the keeper inside the far post.
St Kents rarely threatened, but did manage to sneak back a goal to eke out a draw, but they left quite unhappy that their season had been derailed. Here’s the two moves, captured by AGS via Hudl.
